Tobacco Cessation Resources

Tobacco use leads to disease and disability and harms nearly every organ of the body. It causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This includes e-cigarettes and vaping.

Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine, which is a highly addictive substance. Vaping is unsafe and damaging to the lungs. Learn more about the risks of vaping on the CDC website.

Doctor’s support

You should talk to your doctor about the benefits of quitting tobacco. They can prescribe you helpful products and prescription aids, such as nicotine replacement therapies.

Dentist’s support

You can also talk to your dentist, who can provide tobacco counseling and share information about treatment.

Prescription Aid

Health Partners Plans’ pharmacy benefits cover tobacco cessation products prescribed by a doctor. Members should have a conversation with their doctor about medications that can assist with quitting. Check your Medicaid or CHIP plan formulary for the most up-to-date drug coverage.
