Telehealth for OB Services

Health Partners Plans recognizes the value of face-to-face provider visits to foster the patient/provider relationship, and we also know that telehealth provides a way to promote patients’ engagement in their health care.  The use of telehealth services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been valuable in providing safe access to care and needed follow-up for our members/your patients.

This is a reminder to continue to offer telehealth services when appropriate for your patients who are attempting to make their first prenatal visit (fostering timeliness of prenatal care) and their important postpartum visit.

Providers, including primary care physicians (PCP) and obstetricians (OB), can submit prenatal and postpartum codes and use the telehealth modifiers, which include 95 and GT, as appropriate. Additional information can be found in HPP’s Professional Telehealth Services (Medicaid and CHIP), which is posted online at HPPlans.com/PolicyBulletins.

Additionally, for prenatal visits, HPP accepts telephone visit procedure codes that may be submitted with a pregnancy diagnosis code. The CPT codes that may be used include 98966, 98967, 98968, 99441, 99442 and 99443.

Both telehealth and face-to-face visits for maternity members have the potential to positively impact your practice’s performance in our Maternity Quality Care Plus (MQCP) Program.

If you have any questions about telehealth services or would like to refer one of your patients for ongoing case management needs, please call our Baby Partners team at 215-967-4592 or email Libby Cohen, our manager of care coordination, at ecohen@hpplans.com.

As always, we appreciate your anticipated partnership in continually improving the health outcomes of our members.
